Upon scheduling your first session, I will discuss specific fee responsibilities and payment options.

I also have limited sliding scale (aka reduced fee) slots available. If you ever have a question about fees, please don't hesitate to talk to me about it.
Credit cards are accepted forms of payment; your card will be charged automatically overnight after your appointment. There are no credit card fees. If you have any questions or concerns about this process, please let me know.
As an out of network provider, I do not bill your insurance directly. Depending on your insurance plan, you may receive partial reimbursement for your treatment. I can provide you with a monthly “superbill” (aka invoice) to submit to your insurance company. I recommend calling your insurance provider and asking the following questions:
Does this plan provide out of network benefits for mental health services?
What percentage of the fee does my plan cover? In other words, will I have a copay or coinsurance?
Is there a limit to the number of sessions covered in a calendar year? And is pre-authorization required?
If I do have out of network benefits, what is the process for submitting superbills?
Do I have a deductible to meet prior to receiving reimbursement (and if so, how much/how much more to go until it's been met?)
Will mental health benefits cover these specific CPT codes: 90791, 90837, 90834, 90832, 90847, 90846? (CPT codes refer to the length and type of service provided)
Reminder: When you submit the superbill, it will need to have a diagnosis. I would be happy to explain further context as needed because I approach diagnoses very intentionally.

Some out of network providers can offer you a “superbill," which is essentially a receipt or invoice listing the services provided. Typically, it is the client’s responsibility to pay their therapist their full fee up front for each session, and then after session and receiving the superbill, you can submit them to your insurance company. Depending on your insurance plan, you might receive partial reimbursement for treatment.
If you’re unsure about your out of network benefits, call your insurance provider and ask the aforementioned questions. Please also be aware that most superbills require a diagnosis in order to be accepted by insurance companies.
At Wit's End Therapy, we send you your superbills at the beginning of each month. We recommend submitting them regularly, as some insurance companies have submission deadlines and varied timelines for reimbursement. If you ever have issues with reimbursement or need a specific change to your superbill, please let me know.
Many therapists offer a limited number of sliding scale slots (aka a reduced rate) for those who cannot afford their full fee. Each therapist may have a different process or criteria to determine this reduced rate. Some examples are a pay-what-you-can model, a specific fee range that they can accept, or a fee schedule based on your income and expenses.
At Wit's End Therapy, I offer a limited number of sliding scale spots; this allows me offer accessibility for those who cannot afford my full fee. I let clients self-determine a rate that they can afford, and then I am transparent about whether I can meet them at that rate. I do not require any documentation of income or expenses, though some therapists may require this. Once we agree on a rate, I have clients sign a 6-month Sliding Scale agreement; once this agreement expires, we reassess the rate and either keep it the same or change it based on the financial circumstances of both the client and the practice.
Please don't hesitate to ask me about session fees; my goal is always to keep mental health care accessible.
